假惺惺 / 假慈悲
crocodile指“鳄鱼”，tear是“眼泪”，本俚语有字面直译是“鳄鱼的眼泪”。传说鳄鱼在大啖猎物时，会边吃边为自己吃掉的动物流泪，因此后人便用“鳄鱼的眼泪”比喻一个人“假惺惺、假慈悲”，相当于中国俗谚“猫哭耗子假慈悲”。
例子：George seems upset that Joan lost the election. God know he's just weeping crocodile tears.（乔治看似因琼安选举落败不开心，天晓得他其实只是在猫哭耗子假慈悲。）
